Quiet, good air flow

Just purchased this for our son's room over the garage. We have a room with irregular walls due to the roof pitch, but the 52" fit well within the available flat ceiling area and was a good choice for the 13'x15' room. My husband (and teenager) installed without issue. They supplied electricity to the fan (tapped into the fire alarm circuit - don't try this unless you know what you're doing!), but did not need to mess with wall switches because of the remote. Existing ceiling joists were fine. No wobble or noticeable noise and the air flow is great at all speeds.The wall remote is mounted by the door, but can be removed and used as a hand-held. The light is suitable and gives good overall light for the space and also works with the dimmer. (We also use task lighting in the room.) The light fixture is not the most attractive, but great for a kids room/guest room IMO. Universal light adaptable, though, so still a great price if you want to switch the light fixture out. We used the 6" rod with 8' ceiling and it's about right. We're getting another fan for my other son's room, but will try the shorter rod (and may have to forgo the light) since he has bunk beds. Could look at a hugger fan, but am quite happy with the stability of this fan, so why roll the dice with another? White/white was a good choice - can't go wrong there. Check out some of the ceiling fan ratings online, and you'll see this as a top-rated energy star fan - with a fraction of the cost of the other fans rated.Very happy with the fast shipping!!

I have had Minka Aire fans for years, they make a great product. I especially like having the hand-held remote. Whisper-quiet, and looks good, too. No wobbling, etc. Very happy customer!

Quiet, good air flow

Hunter fan, no disappointment

I ordered this for our bedroom remodel. As with all ceiling fans I had to install a stronger brace to support the weight.Pass & Seymour 22200 Retrofit Reiker Fan Brace with 25-Cubic-Inch Electrical Box The included bracket comes with a loop and the top of the fan motor has a hook. so the fan can be wired without constantly supporting it with your third hand. That sure makes for a quick install. I ended up getting a Hunter remote/module with it so I can turn the light off from bed. Hunter 27148 Fan/Light Remote Control It is nice in the summer when you go to bed hot but get cold around 3 AM. just hit the button and it shuts off. The fan runs quietly and has no wobble. I really like the oak colored blades. They go with the rest of the furniture. It does come with the tiny light bulbs. I would rather have the full sized bulbs. Beyond that we really like the fan.

Where is the quality control?

Hunter 20182 52 Inch Studio Series Ceiling Fan Antique Brass with Walnut/Medium Oak BladesI purchased this fan as the price was right, it had the light kit we wanted and because it was a Hunter. I've had positive experiences in the past with Hunter fans so I wasn't hesitant to purchase another.HOWEVER, the fan was a horror to assemble and install. There were so many pieces and terrible instructions!The wiring was like a rat's nest and had two wires that were out of the assembly fitting.My husband was an electrician for 40 years and he had to repair the wiring before the fan could be installed. A laymen would not have been able to hang this. He said if his forman in NYC ever received this shoddy product, he would have sent it back immediately.We did eventually get it to work and the fan is quiet and steady but the electrical assembly was awful.

Happy with the Hunter 20182 52 Inch Ceiling fan.

I was very happy with the Hunter 20182 52 Inch Ceiling fan. Like the other post said, the included bracket comes with a loop and the top of the fan motor has a hook so the fan can be wired without constantly supporting it with your third hand. That sure makes for a quick install. Was easy to install by myself with this hook. This was a replacement for a fan gone bad so the electrical was no problem. Trim down the long wires and reattach to the existing wires. It is very quiet & stable with no wobble. I installed it on a 12' ceiling attached to a wall switch. It went up easily. All the screw holes lined up and no adjustment of installation parts were needed. Only thing I didn't like was the light kit having the small mini sockets and not a standard light bulb like in a lamp. No big deal, just another type of light bulb I have to store. This is why I give it 4 1/2 stars.

Great fan! Perfect fit!

I have been looking for this fan for quite a long time to match one I already have in the living room. This is a great fan, runs quietly and looks great.However, the shipper did not pack it very well and the light globe was shattered. Thankfully, it was packed inside a bag and most of the broken glass was contained in the bag.

Very Cool

This fan is Money! I put it up in my living room and hooked it up to a Lutron Fan / Light Dimmer Switch. I can control the brightness of the lights and the speed of the fan from the switch on the wall. The fan is very powerful yet very quiet. At full speed, you can't even hear the motor, just the sound of the blades cutting through the air. The lights are perfect for my large living room. I have the lights directed to highlight parts / items in the room that I want to be seen. Instead of lighting the whole room, it provides great ambient / mood lighting (Especially with the dimmer). There is plenty of light, it obviously wont work in a kitchen unless you have other lights to supplement it.

Westinghouse Fan

I love the lighting option on this fan. It's far better than the typical dome lights. This is a quality built fan without a noisy motor.The only thing we had trouble with was that there were plastic parts inside the motor compartment to protect it during shipping. We didn't see anything in the directions about removing them. This created a noise but as soon as we call technical support they knew exactly what we needed to do.

great modern fan

This fan was bought to remplace a 70's or 80's fan in my living room that had a cathedral celiing. the decor in my home has been updated and is quite modern. This fan looks great with all my furniture and wood work. the finishes are great with the exception of the pulls which are quite cheap and basically just plastic disks. Besides that my only complaint would be that this light is not meant to be your main living area light. It only puts a spot light in three different areas around the room which is fine as long as your living room is bright and open and you have other sources of lighting. We replaced the bulbs with led replacement bulbs for efficency and they work fine. The fan was easy to install and runs very smoothly and quietly. I would recommend this fan.

Very Cool

This fan is Money! I put it up in my living room and hooked it up to a Lutron Fan / Light Dimmer Switch. I can control the brightness of the lights and the speed of the fan from the switch on the wall. The fan is very powerful yet very quiet. At full speed, you can't even hear the motor, just the sound of the blades cutting through the air. The lights are perfect for my large living room. I have the lights directed to highlight parts / items in the room that I want to be seen. Instead of lighting the whole room, it provides great ambient / mood lighting (Especially with the dimmer). There is plenty of light, it obviously wont work in a kitchen unless you have other lights to supplement it.

Westinghouse Fan

I love the lighting option on this fan. It's far better than the typical dome lights. This is a quality built fan without a noisy motor.The only thing we had trouble with was that there were plastic parts inside the motor compartment to protect it during shipping. We didn't see anything in the directions about removing them. This created a noise but as soon as we call technical support they knew exactly what we needed to do.

great modern fan

This fan was bought to remplace a 70's or 80's fan in my living room that had a cathedral celiing. the decor in my home has been updated and is quite modern. This fan looks great with all my furniture and wood work. the finishes are great with the exception of the pulls which are quite cheap and basically just plastic disks. Besides that my only complaint would be that this light is not meant to be your main living area light. It only puts a spot light in three different areas around the room which is fine as long as your living room is bright and open and you have other sources of lighting. We replaced the bulbs with led replacement bulbs for efficency and they work fine. The fan was easy to install and runs very smoothly and quietly. I would recommend this fan.

Overall, I like the way this looks on my screen porch. The blades are not quite as dark of a mahogany as they are in the pictures. They are made of heavy plastic and the backs of the blades are not painted to match (ugly yellow). If you are placing this fan where you will be able to see the tops of the blades from somewhere, it would destroy the look you were after.My only other issue is that the paint is very tender and the primer beneath is a different color (ugly yellow again) so you have to be very careful when installing. For the money, I feel this was a good purchase and would buy the same fan again.

Good fans

Athough most Hunter fans are a bit pricey, this model is reasonably priced. Even at this price point, you get a high quality, reliable fan. I have purchased three Hunter fans for my current home after owning Hunter brand fans in my previous home that were going strong after 10 years with no issues. These fans are quiet, operate smoothly and installing isn't that difficult as long as you follow the instructions. These fans will provide a long time of use and Hunter stands behind their fans as well with their warranty.This is reasonably priced here in comparison to the box stores.

Hunter Hudson 42inch ceiling fan

When I did a search for a 42inch ceiling fan with LIGHT and this fan came up. I have bought Hunter ceiling fans before so I very much trust them. But when I received this Hunter Hudson fan, it did not have a LIGHT. You would have to buy a light attachment for an additional $50. That was a great disappointment and I had to return it right away and bought another ceiling fan with an actual light attachment. I'm only giving a 3 star because I do enjoy Hunter products.

Great fan except for this one thing

This is a great ceiling fan, it's whisper quiet and modern but if it's going to be your primary light source I would avoid it like the plague. The 2700k bulb gives everything a fluorescent orange glow. Any replacement bulbs will have to be ordered online because it is a special low profile twist and lock CFL which is only made in warm white.

the remote is the problem

It's hard to put into words how much I regret buying this product, but to be fair, the problem is really the remote-switch system. Buying a fan with a remote switch is a HUGE mistake. I've been up on the ladder three times now, hoisting the 40-pound fan in the front room while trying to insert a screw at the same time, because I had to change the dip switch settings because somebody in the neighborhood got a fan, garage door opener, or whatever on the same frequency. Their signal would turn my fan or my light on or off, over and over. So there's that. (I'm not the only one with this story btw.) Then, I'm off to Radio Shack buying batteries (not your AA or AAA's, oh no - more expensive and hard-to-find ones) because the batteries in the remote don't last very long.Get a fan with a wall switch. You won't know what you're missing, and that's a good thing.

great, after install

The fan looks and works great now, but it was not fun to install. I have an old-style metal electrical box in the ceiling that is braced to the ceiling joists on either side. Well, this fan install requires screwing wood screws into a structural member above the box, which I did not have. So I installed one. Next, I discovered that the old box was more narrow than newer boxes, which the fan connector plate could not account for and it was deep, which the wood screws could not account for. I ended up having to make a run to the home improvement store to buy 4" screws and then retrofit the fan connector plate to accept them. If this does not sound like fun to you, make sure you have a new electrical box or steer clear of Hunter.

Terrible Hunter support and install directions

I have installed many ceiling fans and needed to replace two in my home. I chose Hunter because of the "quiet" motor advertisement. After 6 hours of trying to install this 2 fans, I simply could not get the light to work - the fan worked fine. I called Hunter and was on hold for nearly a half hour. It kept advising me to leave a message or keep on the line for the next available agent. I finally sucumbed to leaving a message. After three days of no return call, I got an electrician to come over and get the lights to work - $199! Come to find out the Hunter instructions do not allow for older home wiring - my home is 1951. After 5 days Hunter did return my call but the agent leaving the message was less than polite with no appology for the delay. Buyer beware of really bad Hunter service if you plan to hook this fan up in an older home. The fan works great and is truly very quiet. I give it 3 stars due to bad service.

horrible instruction

The fan operates and the light works after 2.5 hour installation. I've done many home projects and found these instructions to be the worst I can remember. There are errors and omissions that lead to multiple reworks. I may enjoy the fan more after getting over the frustration of dealing with the instructions. If you buy this fan be careful to identify parts by picture as some screws have the same name, but different application. When wiring, just connect both the black and the black/white striped wires to your black lead from the ceiling. Be sure to thread your fan pull chain through the grommet on the metal disk (not in instructions) or it will bind on the glass globe.

Great product. Little tedious to install

The product was delivered within 4 days from order. Assembly took almost 2 hours. One word of wisdom, if you are planning to install a digital fan and light control do not install fan components until you have dimmer on hand. There is a module that needs to be installed at the base that needs to be done upfront. Slight wobble but can live with it. Have 2 installed in master bedroom.
