Great product and price

I ordered 3 of these fans based on appearance and price. I was not not disappointed. The delivery was fast, the fan was packaged well, and the installation instructions was easy to follow. The fans works well and deliver excellent cooling and quiet circulation. I did not give the product 5 stars because the holes on the uppermost part attached to the ceiling do not line up correctly.

the CFM rating on this Monte Carlo 5HM52WH is incorrect. i ordered thinking it would be 6182 CFM as claimed but it was delivered with only 5192 CFM. i had to pay return shipping myself and luckily i did receive credit. i also informed Amazon about the misinformation but Amazon does not seem interested in correcting any information on this equipment. buyer beware!

Love these fans!

We purchased these fans (one white, one stainless) for our kitchen and living room. We love them. Really easy to install, given that they have the ball and socket mounting system, which allows you to hang the fan and wire it with two hands. Eliminates the need to have someone else on the ladder with you holding it above your head while you wire it!Contemporary look and provides a lot of air flow (read: can't use it on high without blowing things off the counter tops!).

We ordered this fan for it's style, function and air movement (CFM). Does all three exceptionally well. Have gotten many compliments on the fan.Be aware, a three bladed high CFM fan will produce more noise than traditional 4 or 5 bladed lower CFM ceiling fan.The application we have our ceiling fan the noise is not close to being a nuisance. In a small, low ceiling environment where the fan will be used on the high speed mode it could be a factor.Overall, it's the best fan we could have purchased for the application we needed.

Fan Quality

This little fan comes with all hardware and the option to use the light or delete, which is what I wanted. The insturction booklet was well written whereas most Chinnese products tend to be poor. The installation was very smooth and the unit runs very quiet. The only thing like most fans is the ceilng mounting bracket cannot rest on the ceiling or it will act as a sounding board and vibrate with noise. Just bend it slightly off the ceiling and all is good.

I needed replacement blades for my small ceiling hugger ceiling fan in our laundry room. Because of the vintage and special nature of the fan replacement blades were nonexistent in my region and hard to find in parts searches. I found this model equivalent to the fan, so I ordered the fan for parts. So far, I installed the blades without any problems and my existing fan is back in service. Replacement blades are available for larger, more typical fans at a cost that is not much less than the total cost of this fan. I consider the purchase as a GOOD investment in future parts, or at least a fairly priced replacement.

Fluffy, not stuffy

This is a beautiful tropical fan made of sturdy components. The blades are large and might catch storm winds if not somewhat protected. Super quiet and really moves air efficiently.

Straightforward to install, handsome appearance

My boyfriend had an easy time installing this ceiling fan, replacing one that came with the house. It runs quietly, balances just-fine, and looks lovely. Due to the low ceilings in my home, we chose the flush-mount aspect of the kit, though it also comes with the option to use a short downrod. It takes three lightbulbs, offering more light than models with only two bulbs. A note about the light: because the light is directed up towards the ceiling, there is a very, very slight strobe effect at some angles, where the fan blades are passing through the light. (This would be true for _any_ model fan where an uplight is mounted below the fan blades.)

update while cleaning made some adjustments now have 3 speeds including high.

It is installed in our bedroom..lofted high ceiling. Looks are impressive though I think the name should be airplane fan or Wright Brothers fan as it looks somewhat like an old fashioned early propeller with its bike looking parts/fishing rod and sail cloth. It is gorgeous to look at. The speed right now is very slow. It is not reversible. I think if we can get the technical advice or hubby figures out why the direction is counter-clock wise when the instruction book says it turns clockwise we will be very happy. I want it to work. It looks lovely. Very big but light weight looking and very stylish. The price seems too high for what it is though and thinks the design fee must be the reason. However I am happy. Would I order it again...yes. I am a customer who had trouble getting all the parts here. Finally we have a complete set, but have to return some extra blades still. Casablanca when I called them were nice but the effort to speak to supervisor was not successful. He was supposed to ring back after leaving "early" on the Thursday I called. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm! Seemed suspect that he was avoiding me. He never called The next day either.Well that does not encourage loyalty on my part. My home has 5 Casablanca fans from the original builder and now this new Malibu Star. Reading other fan retailer sites they say that this fan does not move lots of air....it isn't about lots of power...should have read that before I ordered. Not going to install this in our very high lofted ceiling in the main great room then. I need a powerful air mover there.

BEAUTIFUL

This fan is simply BEAUTIFUL! We bought it for our camper, which had a VERY cheap 4 paddle w/globe. It added so much class to our living area...and no cord to pull or get in the way of the slides! We just love it! If we ever upgrade our house now, I'll be using this type.

Needs to be redesigned

I had multiple issues with this item; partly because of the item and partly because of Amazon Warehouse Deals Inc.The fan itself is reasonably good looking and pushes a fair amount of air.Now, I've installed Westinghouse fans before, and I can't say that this fan is much better looking or much stronger at moving air.The installation is definitely more difficult than the Westinghouse fan:1) The motor doesn't lean off a bracket as easily, meaning you really need 2 people to install the fan.2) Attaching the fan blades requires the use of a putting a screwdriver through a very small slot/To be fair, you only need to do the installation once, so the average user might only waste an extra 15-30 minutes installing this fan over simpler models, but if you make a living installing fans, you'll be suggesting different units to your clients.As for Amazon Warehouse Deals Inc, they clearly sold me a broken and incomplete item under the description of "Used - Good condition". The bolts to assemble the fan blades were missing, the motor shaft was crooked and had crack lines, and the bracket was bent out of shape. It looked like a previous purchaser dropped the item on the floor, then returned it. I expect better from Amazon; they should have assessed the item more carefully.I had to argue for a refund, but I did get one. A+ customer service. Frankly, the item was damaged and thus dangerous. Moreover, I don't find it better than cheaper alternatives, which tend to be much simpler to assemble.

Love this fan

Installed one of these in my living room last summer. It looks great, is nearly silent, and moves a lot of air. Sits much closer to the ceiling than the "hugger" fan it replaced. In fact, I like it so much I bought another for my bedroom when we remodeled that room. One thing to point out, the wall control has four positions. 1 is high, and 4 is low. It probably says that in the instructions somewhere, but I didn't read them...

Great Fan for the Money!

You definitely get the bang for your buck with this fan. It is quiet, easy to install, and looks more expensive that it actually is. We purchased the fan for our master bedroom and it definitely moves more air than our previous fan but also looks very stylish and attractive.

You definitely get the bang for your buck with this fan. It is quiet, easy to install, and looks more expensive that it actually is. We purchased the fan for our master bedroom and it definitely moves more air than our previous fan but also looks very stylish and attractive.

This seems to be a really good quality fan.Pros - not ornate, super quiet, easy to install, moves a ton of aircon - light isn't really brightoverall - very happy with it and I recommend.

Love this fan!

Works great and very stylish! I was leary to buy on-line, sight unseen. But, do not regret my purchase. This is the nicest celing fan in my house. Only wish it would've come with a remote, but no biggy that it didn't.

Great looking fan.

Quiet.Powerful.Easy to install.Lights are bright and perfect for accenting. I was unsure *how* adjustable (directionally) the lights were but was happy to see that they're fully adjustable.Solid build. Nothing feels cheap on it aside from the medallions that they supply to attach to the pull chains. You don't need to use them though.If I ever move, this sucker is coming with me.Only con is that the lights do give off noticeable heat but this can easily be remedied with LED bulbs.

Engineering issues - but good fan.

So our Westinghouse fan in our bedroom of 10 years finally stopped spinning. 10 years - a good run. So believing in the brand, we ordered this one. Some ups and downs.Yes - beautiful fan. Not sure if anyone else had this issue or not, but our light bar looked like it was painted by our two year old son by hand. Horrible and unacceptable finish. I'm working with the seller (Del Mar Designs) to swap out for another light bar as this one is bad off. It works - but the finish is horrible - it's literally painted and badly at that. The rest of the fan's finish is perfect.Three (3) engineering issues.First - The rubber ring that goes around the top cap (the hanging pole runs through it) - it is so tight that when you go to slide the ring down to its resting position, it pops out every time. And of course with a tolerance that tight, you cannot re-install it at that point. You have to take it back off and try again. I literally had to get the ring and the pole wet (damp) to make it slide down without popping out. Not a huge issue but was annoying.Second - neither the bottom cap nor the light assembly would line up with the holes in the body when the cutout was placed where it belonged (under the Westinghouse plastic badge). The screw holes were off by 2/3 of an inch. That's just bad engineering right there. Oversight in QA or something. I had to remove the badge to make the light assembly fit, then cut the plastic prongs on the back of the badge to make it fit back on once the light assembly was in place. I tested with the cap (no light) - and it had the same issue. The cap nor the light will seat unless the cutout is under the badge.Third - Nice satin finish and they provide a chrome (not satin) plastic ring to cover the holes in the ceiling hanger cover. And.... it sticks on (upside down) with 3 small pieces of double sided tape. Hoping it doesn't fall off in the coming years. Would it really have been that hard to include a satin finish ring that snapped in to the holes? For the price (160), a quality ring was expected, but not delivered.All said and done - it's a nice fan. My recommendation is to assemble it entirely on the ground, then hang it in the holder on the ceiling when ready to wire it up. Wire it while hanging and install the cover. Don't be "that guy" or "that gal" and get yourself shocked. Make sure the wall switch is off if you have one. If you do not have a wall switch, kill the circuit breaker. Safety first folks. That's it, you're done.Working overhead is no fun. This fan is tough enough to be assembled on the ground. (Carpet, the bed, where ever you have a soft surface as to not scratch it up.) Put the whole thing together and then attach the fan blades to the arms last. Keeps them out of your way while you assemble the rest of the fan and light. (I only recommend this if you're assembling it on the ground.)Noise? Ours is not as quiet as others have mentioned - but not noisy enough to annoy us. No louder than our old one anyway. To be fair, we use a sliding switch with it to control the speed - and I notice those cause the motor to be a little louder on all of our fans in the house.The air movement is great, the lighting is ok. The spots are very bright but limit the light to the area you aim it at. Also be careful when adjusting the lights. Depending on where you aim them - you'll be blinded by a spot when you walk in the room. A hazard with any light of this type I imagine. And yes, this fan included the light bulbs. We may search for another type of bulb that fits this socket and fixture that provides more of a warm glow than a spot. But they'll work for now.So in short - get past the shoddy engineering (manufacturing?) and get it on the ceiling, it's a nice looking, well working fan. Hopefully it lasts 10 years like our last Westinghouse.

very well made but diffcult to assemble

This fan is very well made and looks very nice. But it is sometimes hard to assemble because you have to place screws in holes between cables in little boxes over your head while the fan is on the ceiling. This is an exhausting piece of work. Once its done the fan is very nice.
