This is my second Low Profile Fan, and my third Hunter Fan in the house. It mounts flush to the ceiling, perfect since i don't have high ceilings. I'll never buy another type of fan again. I have another brand and its noisy! If the room is quiet (while sleeping at night) you can hear the motor run. However, these Hunter fans are very quiet and work great. You can't hear the motor at all. I highly recommend Hunter Ceiling Fans.

I was looking for a really quiet and reliable fan, and this one is perfect in that regard. On the highest speed, it makes almost no noise at all. It is indeed low profile, allowing it to fit my low ceilings without the feeling that I am about to be decapitated like the old fan. It would be extremely low profile if you left out the light kit, which adds a lot of the depth. However, the light kit is nice, with white shades that allow good lighting. The bulbs are unfortunately candelabra, but that is not Hunter's fault given legal restrictions.Installation was a bit of a pain, because they really leave it all to you, down to shoving the rubber gromets into the screw holes on the blades. On the bright side, you won't have to hold the fan while doing the wiring, since it uses the modern "hook" system. Also, your ceiling doesn't need to be perfectly level, because the fan actually does hang a bit. This fact is hidden by the design. If it hangs to the side too much, the blade connectors will scratch at the casing, but even this can be corrected with a little shimming of the rubber pads which sit against the ceiling. All of this means that this fan, despite being low profile, can work silently and without wobble on a ceiling that has shifted a bit out of level. This is critical, since low profile fans are often needed most in older homes that don't have a level surface in sight.If you like the look of this fan and the price is right, I think you'll be very happy with it.

I can't believe how fast and how many bulbs this unit burns through. I did contact CS and they sent me a replacement part that helped..a little. Now instead of going through bulbs every week its every other week.
