4Beautiful, Solid Fan
By J. Andrews
I had a hard time deciding between the Minka Aire Concept II and this fan... so I got one of each. In my opinion, on aesthetics alone the Emerson wins hands down. The Minka looks squat compared to the sleek Emerson. Both were able to be double wired (one switch for the light and one for the fan), however, if you do this you cannot dim the light (I didn't care). The Emerson has 6 speeds vs 3 for the Minka (again no big deal). The only reason I rated this as a 4 instead of 5 star is because it drop shipped directly from Emerson, and I got a "return unit" that had some missing parts and a broken bulb. If I hadn't had an electrician (who had spare parts) installing the unit, I would have been cussing Emerson. I will give them a pass on this and in the Minka Air Concept II vs Emerson Curva, I pick the Emerson. Both are great fans and you will not go wrong with either. No shimmy or shake, wobble or squeak with either unit.I got the brushed nickle unit with the plastic nickle colored blades. i was afraid they would look kind of cheesy and was worried that they did not offer a solid wood blade. Now that I have them, I think they look great so don't let plastic faux metal blades scare you off.

4Works well
By DaveM
I installed this into my 2nd floor 8X20 office, and it seems to work very well in both pushing and pulling air. My office borders my air conditioned bedroom, separated by french doors I generally leave wide open, and it pulls sufficient conditioned air into the office to keep it reasonably comfortable (although my office is clearly not fully "cooled.") I've been using it for about 2 months now.I consider this fan to be a pretty nice looking fan, and it blends into the white ceiling enough that you could completely miss seeing it if you are not looking for it. It seems to operate smoothly with no noticeable wobbling and a low whisper. I can use my speakerphone without worrying about background noise. The light fixture seems to work fine, but I rarely use the lamp.I'm neither an electrician nor a professional handyman, but consider myself to be a fairly capable amatuer with a lot of personal experience in my own home, and in the home of friends and relatives. Although I installed this myself, I wouldn't necessarily recommend that to everyone, especially if you have no experience with, or are uncomfortable working with, electrical installations. It took me 4-5 hours to get it fully installed. Overall, the directions were good, not great. The one very unclear aspect was how the remote receiver was to be installed into the fan housing, and it took me some trial and error to get it right. The fully assembled unit is also a bit on the heavy side, although a factory engineered hook for dangling the unit while completing the final wiring made this sufficiently easy for me to accomplish on my own.

5Perfect for my back porch!
By Kim M
I thought that a three-blade fan wouldn't have enough power to keep me cool on the back porch, but it does! It is a lot more powerful than any other outdoor fan I've had. I really like the remote-control feature with the five levels of power and the light on/off switch. I'd buy it again.
