An excellent fan for a large room

This fan was easy to put together and looks very very nice. It came on time and was well packed and undamaged.We use it mostly on the middle or low speed and there is no fan wobble at all. I must add that is quite difficult to hang as the remote has a lot of wires and with the locking nuts it was impossible to get them all in the ceiling box so most of them ended up in the fans ceiling box cover and then it was a bit of a struggle to attach the cover to the ceiling plate. But we did it and we love it.

Beautiful fans

Although these fans are a bit pricy, they are high quality, reliable and well worth your purchase. I have purchased three of these for my current home after owning Hunter brand fans in my previous home that were going strong after 10 years with no issues. These fans are quiet, operate smoothly and installing isn't that difficult as long as you follow the instructions. These fans will provide a long time of use and Hunter stands behind their fans as well with their warranty.This particular model is priced here at less than 200 and is a good deal in comparison to the big box stores.

Make sure you get Correct Double Threaded Downrod for 22282 Hunter Outdoor Fan

We ordered the Hunter 22282 52-Inch Outdoor fan about 3 weeks ago. We ordered the 26042 18" new bronze downrod that Amazon recommends with this fan. The picture on that downrod is double-threaded, so we ordered it. We were sent a single threaded downrod, so we returned it and explained we needed dual threads (the only way you can install it). We were sent a single threaded replacement. I got online with Amazon support, and he told me he would make sure the next one I received was dual threaded. Three days later, the third single thread downrod came in the mail. This happened one more time, and finally we went directly to the ceiling fan supplier, and they also sent us the wrong one. The Downrod you need for the 22282 fan is Part Number 25999 - 18" All-Weather Double-Threaded Downrod - For Hunter Original Fans only. Amazon's site has it, but there is no picture. This is the correct downrod. Very frustrating, but now that we have it up, it's a great fan. 18" All-Weather Double-Threaded Downrod - For Hunter Original Fans Only

Good fan/crappy instructions

I ordered a pair of hunters bronze 22282 fans to replace some indoor fans that were in terrible shape on my outdoor porch.CONS:-Instructions are crap. They say to drill to 1/4 holes in your stud/joist for the lag bolts. I looked at the lag bolt and 1/4 looked wayyyyy to big. So, I pre-drilled on some scrap and sure enough the lag bolts threads slipped easily between the perimeter of the drill hole. I went down to a 3/16 bit and that worked wonderfully. I would have been extremely upset had I drilled with 1/4 and had to replace the stud by pulling out some of my redwood ceiling I just put in (tongue and groove clear heart at 7.00 a foot + stain time).-The electrical screw connectors are very small. Your not getting two 14 gauge wires in one of them. They are not a standard size for their color.-the lag bolts are painted with a hot-dip color. Sad. Also, the hex head on the lag is not SAE or metric, it is somewhere between a 5-6 mm, but not SAE. Used a crescent on it-major PITA.OK, enough whining.PROs:-heavy, steady, smooth, fan. You need a stud in the ceiling and a metal box. The cast iron exterior weighs about 45 lbs.-it takes oil and has real bearings, meaning it will not fall apart because of some plastic cracking in our 110 summer and 5 degree winter. DO NOT FORGET THE OIL.-It does not look like a cheap home depot fan.-real teak blades, the endgrain matches the grain on the blade. VERY NICE.-no grommitsThere are better fans than this out there, but not at this price, paid about 430 a pop. Packaging was in great shape. My 3" downrod was bronze not black.

The Only Hunter you should buy

The best fan ever made! I have two of them and they move more air, are very quiet and with proper care (easy) last longer than I live.Warning! Just because Hunter hit a grand slam with this design doesn't mean that their other fans are good. The residential fans they make are no better quality than Hampton Bay/ Harbor Breeze,But their install design is bar none the WORST.Buy a Hunter, make it a cast iron! If you want a design other than cast iron, get anything BUT hunter! Hope this helps.

Long term investment

These are solid fans and have been for many years. We bought our first Hunter in 1977 and over the years have acquired 6 more. They're not cheap, but you won't ever have to buy another fan, that is, unless it's to add another. Yes, you can buy a more `stylish' fan, but you won't buy a better one. Whisper quiet, even after 34 years.

Hunter Fan Classical 52inch is superb!

This fan is easy to install (with several options for mounting). It's ideal for the person who does not want or need a light (though a light kit can be installed). The fan is extremely quiet and moves a good amount of air in both directions.The motor bearings are lubricated with an oil tank which you must fill from provided oil--a bit unusual but easy to do.

These are solid fans and have been for many years. We bought our first Hunter in 1977 and over the years have acquired 6 more. They're not cheap, but you won't ever have to buy another fan, that is, unless it's to add another. Yes, you can buy a more `stylish' fan, but you won't buy a better one. Whisper quiet, even after 34 years.

Hunter Fan Classical 52inch is superb!

This fan is easy to install (with several options for mounting). It's ideal for the person who does not want or need a light (though a light kit can be installed). The fan is extremely quiet and moves a good amount of air in both directions.The motor bearings are lubricated with an oil tank which you must fill from provided oil--a bit unusual but easy to do.

Great performance and looks

Pros: Nice classy look Bright light High Speed moves significantly more air than our old ceiling fan. QuietCons: Pull chains feel a bit 'clunky'I went through a lot of reviews and waded through multiple web sites looking for the 'perfect' fan for the bedroom. I learned more than I thought was possible about ceiling fans, but my main criteria were the amount of air it moved and how quiet it was. This fan fulfills those 2 items very well. I'm looking forward to using at high speed in the summer as it should help keep me keep cooler (I live in Los Angeles). The light is brighter than I originally thought, and I'm not too disappointed about the non-standard bulb, plus I really didn't want the 'candelabra' bulbs. This was a 'low-ceiling' installation, but high speed still moves a large amount of air. Very happy with this purchase, and more importantly, so is my wife.For the Do-it-yourselfers, I didn't have too much trouble installing it, but it does take some time. The most important thing is having a stable ladder/step stool that will put you right up to the ceiling without reaching at all, I didn't and it made it much more difficult than it needed to be.

This fan is absolutely gorgeous - it is so quiet and the air flow is very strong. I installed it in my kitchen as I get the Western california sun that just beams through my windows. It was very easy to assemble and install (sy a handyman) and I will be buying another for my spare bedroom. Great deal, great fan I highly recommend it.

great fan, looks good, runs quiet, moves air well

i've owned this fan for about two years now, it's a very good fan.the only draw backs are: it has no remote, the lights are uncovered on top which does two things, first, after a while dust will collect inside bowl which reduces overall brightness (be aware of this when considering mounting in hard to reach ceilings) and when using both light and fan, the blades casts their shadows which appears as if the ceiling is flashing (brighter shinning up + fan blade movement). But worst of all, it uses candelabra bulbs! at least it uses two of them, but you can find the bulbs anywhere, even cfl ones, but they cost more and have less varieties.But those draw backs are present in many fan and / or lighting fixtures, they're not too bad.The good things about this fan outweigh the draw backs though. I really like it, i'm sure most people will feel the same. large wing span, moves plenty of air, quiet, reversible, brushed nickel + dark (reversible) blade goes with many colors. it's very stylish.update:went to lowes to buy candelabra based cfl, they seem to have a better variety than homedepot, i got a two pack of 100 watt equivalent for about $10; alternative choices included 60 watt equivalent, daylight spectrum cfl for about $4 each. my local homedepot barely has any to choose from, but the lowes has a few good choices.

Another great Hunter fan

First of all I will not buy a fan unless its a Hunter. I like their reputation and I have had like 8 different ones and they have never let me down. I love the contemporary look and feel of the fan...from the nickel to the cool choice of a dark cherry or black blades. I the light glass cover makes the look totally! The picture doesn't do it justice. the light bowl is as big as a larger pizza.the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was the lights. it comes it uses to 60 watt candelabra lights..WIMPY! I purchased a candelabra to medium conversion so i can get some decent light from it..all in all..Awesome fan

Excellent Fan in the tradition of Hunter

This fan has run perfectly after owning it for nearly two years now. The styling is excellent, the operation is quiet and installation is as easy as a ceiling fan installation can be. The lack of a remote kit in this model is seemingly a drawback at first. However, many people who have owned a Hunter remote kit whether included or accessory will tell you they are haunted. Both of my remote kits (one included in a Palermo and one added to this unit) demonstrate this quirk where the light/fan will randomly turn themselves on. I won't go into it further here, but I mention it to point out that since this has no kit, you are free to purchase a more functional universal remote kit and use it without issue.The light is admittedly not excessively bright, so do not use this as the only source of illumination in a room if you enjoy a bright room. As the other reviewer mentioned, these bulbs are not CFLs however that was a specific feature I looked for. CFLs at time of writing can't dim, they are only on or off. This fan is in our main room with our entertainment system so the ability to control a gradient of light was important. If all you want is an on/off then seeking a CFL replacement or a fan with a fluorescent kit included may be better for you. Also, the chain operation is not very smooth at best which is only relevant if you choose to keep it "stock" and not go with a remote kit add-on as we did.All in all, this fan is great and I strongly recommend it. As the drawbacks mentioned were either trivial or things I specifically needed, I've rated this a perfect 5 but do keep them in mind should your preferences/environment differ.

LOVE IT!

Was just what we wanted. We ordered two. My husband installed the first one easily. He had difficulty installing the second one, and ended up calling Hunter several times. They tried to help solve the problem, and even sent a replacement part which didn't work either. Ultimately, my husband called an electrical store and talked with someone who solved the mystery. Our house is an older house, and the problem was with our wiring.

cute but lighting could be better

This ceiling fan is very cute for a little girl, but I am disapppointed in the amount of light it gives off. It isn't very bright and creates shadows all over as a result. If I had known this prior to purchasing, I would have definitely bought a different one.

Cute Design!

I bought this fan for our nursery, and it looks great. It also functions great as well, very quiet. Only complaint is that I wish it used full sized bulbs so lighting can be brighter.

Perfect for the little girl room

This fan was very easy to assemble. There are quite a lot of small parts and screws so it took about 2 hrs total to complete. Came with two options for installation (flat and angled). Very happy with the finished product. Fired up the first time. The details are great considering the price we paid for this refurb. They factory did an excellent job because this item arrived in perfect condition. If it was used before you would have never known. Definitely recommend!!
