The Hunter Studio Series Fan was purchased to replace a 30 year old Hunter fan whose motor finally bit the dust. This fan is required to work 24/7/365 while looking beautiful in my family-room which is the hub of our home. Why the fan must be hard working: To decrease heating and cooling costs. We heat using a wood-burning fireplace insert for the past 30 years which sits at the furthest end of a long narrow room (26' x 14') and this fan must circulate the air from the family-room into the rest of the over 2000 sq ft of 2 story house and it does it to perfection! We reverse the blade direction in the summer to decrease the air conditioner usage. Is this cost effective? YES!! My highest monthly gas bill for the past 30 years has been $28 as I do use gas for my hot water heater and range (which gets a workout during the holidays).The fan came in it's own box inside another box. No damage to either box or any of the many pieces inside. It even came with it's own CFL light bulbs!! Lots of assembly is required, but that wasn't a problem and since we were swapping one for another, the ceiling already had the correct box and proper wiring. The only problem was the base of this new one wasn't as large as our old one (which had a giant glass globe light at the ceiling) and we had textured the ceiling since installing the old fan, so we did have to go out and buy a ceiling medallion and paint it a couple of times before we could actually install the new fan.Our only complaint is that the pull chains should have come with something on the end to make it easier to grab and pull, even the Hunter Logo would have been acceptable. We bought extension pulls with a wooden ball on the end at the local hardware store.

No one should have to go through installation of this Hunter fan. It takes two people to install - one to hold the fan motor, the other to align the screw holes to connect the fan with the ceiling attachment. Both installers will break their necks and their backs doing this. Further, you have to install the light unit before you know if the fan has been properly wired (assuming you do not have a voltmeter). This should have been stated in the manual. Once installed, the fan is quiet and works well. In my opinion, installation of the fan to the ceiling mount should have been engineered much better.

Hunter fans are a bit pricy, but they are high quality, reliable and well worth your purchase. I have purchased three of these for my current home after owning Hunter brand fans in my previous home that were going strong after 10 years with no issues. These fans are quiet, operate smoothly and installing isn't that difficult as long as you follow the instructions. These fans will provide a long time of use and Hunter stands behind their fans as well with their warranty.The studio model here is a great deal compared to the box stores.
