Great Product

Casablanca has hit a home run with this line of DC fans. Quality built, whisper quiet and great looks. More costly than a standard AC fan but very economical, especially if you run a fan year round.The only thing that I believe a lot of home owners have issues with is having to control an added light kit from the remote. You can't be walking around a dark room looking for a remote. I pulled an additional wire through the fan and wired the light direct to the wall switch and only use the remote for fan operation. I feel this should be done from the factory so it is more versatile for the everyday homeowner to install.All in all, this is a great fan. You won't be disappointed!!

Functional Fan with a Historical Story to Tell

This is an excellent product, it appears to be of very high quality, its motor runs smoothly and looks great in my hobby room. It is three speed and reversible using the supplied remote control - there is no pull chain despite what the description on the product page says - that would detract from its appearance. The remote control does not appear to be of the same high quality standard but is effective. Perhaps a little too powerful, as another fan in the house, made by a different manufacturer, also (sometimes) responds to its commands! A nice touch is the inclusion of a wall mounting kit for the remote control, so theoretically it should never be misplaced. The light is sufficient to provide background lighting but don't expect to be able to comfortably read by it, the halogen bulb is of the same intensity as an incandescent bulb with a 50 W rating. I would never have thought that a ceiling fan would be a conversation piece, but this one certainly is. Installation was a breeze, as is this fan!

Cute, but fairly useless

This product looks like better materials online (the propellers look like wood and the rest looks like metal), but in reality, it is just plastic. It looks cute, but it is smaller than it appears to be online, and the light offers no more illumination than a nightlight (even when the light is at full strength, because it is dimmable, which is a joke, because it's so dim to begin with). The fan and remote control work well, but we have to use 2-3 additional lamps in my son's small 11 x 12 room in order to make it bright enough to play or read a book at night. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because it's cute and the fan works well. Otherwise, as a light, it is useless.Also, I was rather disappointed when I later saw this same fan on e-Bay for approximately $50 less. Probably someone else who bought it and was extremely disappointed as well. I guess I'll keep it with the additional lamps in the room, because my husband would kill me after he finally got it installed if I ask him to take it down and install something else. I would definitely NOT recommend it, and I would not purchase it again if I had it to do over.

Nice depiction of the plane represented

Nice attractive well made little fan. Of course it does not move the air like a 54" five blade fan, what do you expect. The fan and the light are perfect for a small area as a accent piece. Not large enough for a big room needing a lot of airflow and a light to read by. I bought it on Ebay for $180 delivered which was a fair value. At around $250 it is a little overpriced. All in all a nice fan and a conversation piece.

I love it!

I dug a little dipper after seeing this on Amazon and called the company myself, they were very helpful and I ordered 2 of these fans, after receiving them thru FedEx I was so excited 2 get started but had to wait for a day off from work to find someone to install them for me, I not all that savvy when it comes to electrical stuff like this. So had a friend install them for me and they look AMAZING, very rich and classy looking also very functional. The perfect look that i was going for, I had one already in my kitchen but it was a 52" and looked way to big and goddy, and I also wanted a 5 blade instead of a 4 blade. Also the fan blades are reversible, one side is light maple the other is cherrywood, just pick whatever side matches your decor and taste both look great i went with the cherrywood, very nice looking. I put one in the master bedroom and one in my kitchen, now i am most likely going back for 1 maybe 2 more to put in other bedrooms. Hope this helped anyones decision

Poor quality

I bought two of these fans. First thing I noticed was that the packaging was not done very carefully.The fan blades were laying in the bottom of the package, not protected except for a thin film wrap. There was slight marring on one of them, but not serious enough to return for that reason. I installed the first one and it worked for a few days then the lights quit working.The fan worked fine,just no lights.I tested the wires and had power so I don't know what the problem was.I then installed the second one and when it was time to put on the glass light shade (bowl)there was a problem. The shade slides up a threaded pipe against a rubber washer then you put a nut on the bottom of the pipe. That is what holds the shade on. The problem was there was not enough pipe threads sticking out to start the nut on and no way of making it longer.I measured the pipe length and compared it to fan #1 and there was a difference. The only way it would go on was to remove the rubber washer on the top of the pipe. But this means no cushion to tighten against. The instructions said you must install light kit as shown, using the rubber washer so that fan was returned as well.

I really like this fan...I bought three! It is quiet and very attractive. I cannot make any comments about installing because I had other folk do the installtion. I think I could have found a cheaper version, but I am a very satisfieed customer.

It's OK maybe overpriced a bit.

Looks good, fairly quiet but not sure it was worth the extra $$ we paid for it compared to much less expensive fans. They all seem to be made in China so the extra bucks are probably for the looks of the fan rather than the build quality.One note: If you plan on hanging this yourself, and especially if you will be hanging it without a helper, do yourself a favor and keep a coat hanger handy. When you get to the point where you have to wire up the motor to your household wiring, you will probably want to fashion a hanger of some sort to suspend the motor from the supplied metal ceiling bracket. I chose to do it with a coat hanger that I wrapped around the motor spindle on one end and wrapped the other end around the metal ceiling bracket getting the motor fairly close to the bracket. That way, I could wire it up and partially stuff the wires back up into the electrical box with relative ease. Once wired, it is a simple one-man job to remove the coat hanger and then place the motor up into the bracket and finish pushing the wires into the ceiling box. The instructions indicate that you place the motor in the ceiling bracket and then wire it up and stuff the wires back into the electrical box. I tried it this way first but it is virtually impossible to do it this way. There is not enough room to move the wires and the copper household wire is too stiff to push back through the small hole in the bracket. MUCH easier to wire and so forth with the motor hanging down. Why Hunter didn't put a hanger on the bracket (like most fans I have hung the past few years) is an oversight. I suspect that a lot of people probably just leave the wires outside the ceiling box which is a definite no-no. Also, when you place the motor up into the ceiling bracket, be careful that you don't rest the motor on one of those wires (very easy to do) or the motor will not seat properly in the metal bracket and of course you don't want the wire wedged like that for safety.

Fan is amazing looking. Hasn't been in service long enough to comment on long term performance. Note that this is a flush mount fan, therefore, it is not appropriate for high ceilings as it does not accommodate a downrod.

I chose to do it with a coat hanger that I wrapped around the motor spindle on one end and wrapped the other end around the metal ceiling bracket getting the motor fairly close to the bracket. That way, I could wire it up and partially stuff the wires back up into the electrical box with relative ease. Once wired, it is a simple one-man job to remove the coat hanger and then place the motor up into the bracket and finish pushing the wires into the ceiling box. The instructions indicate that you place the motor in the ceiling bracket and then wire it up and stuff the wires back into the electrical box. I tried it this way first but it is virtually impossible to do it this way. There is not enough room to move the wires and the copper household wire is too stiff to push back through the small hole in the bracket. MUCH easier to wire and so forth with the motor hanging down. Why Hunter didn't put a hanger on the bracket (like most fans I have hung the past few years) is an oversight. I suspect that a lot of people probably just leave the wires outside the ceiling box which is a definite no-no. Also, when you place the motor up into the ceiling bracket, be careful that you don't rest the motor on one of those wires (very easy to do) or the motor will not seat properly in the metal bracket and of course you don't want the wire wedged like that for safety.

Fan is amazing looking. Hasn't been in service long enough to comment on long term performance. Note that this is a flush mount fan, therefore, it is not appropriate for high ceilings as it does not accommodate a downrod.

Vortex 36" hugger fan

For me, the specifications were the most important information, because this fan had to clear a closet door by about an inch. The dimensions were exactly as specified, so the installation went off without a hitch. This fan replaced a big-box store's cheapest one, which was a 4 blade 42" model that wobbled and hummed loudly right out of the box, wasn't exactly the size it advertised, and was returned the next day as a result. This one is 6" less, but the six blades more than make up for the shorter length. This throws much more air around than that 42" fan did. It also does not hum at all (nice and quiet!) and it doesn't wobble a bit. I didn't realize it used a different light bulb, though, but that wasn't a big problem. It uses a single "candelabra" base bulb, not included, but which was easy enough to find. Don't buy the candle-shaped ones, though (don't know why you would, since they would be hidden under the globe) because they won't fit under the globe. And don't bother buying the compact fluorescent version of the candelabra base bulb, because it is too long to fit in the globe, too. Just go with the round/spherical ones and you'll be all set. I'd probably give it 5 stars if it came with the bulb, but it did specify that in the product description.

Awesome looking but...

The fan everyone will be talking about

This great fan is actually 2 fans that have 3 speeds and can slowly rotate around or remain fixed in space, all at the touch of a button on the remote control. The individual fans can be angled down thanks to a flexible section in each arm. I saw a similar fan in a restaurant a few years ago but every time I searched for one the cost ranged from $1500-$2000! BUT then this year my search was rewarded with the Minkea Aire Gyrette at a third of the cost! I just love it! The only thing negative I can say is that when the fans are rotating there is a slight hum that disappears when stationary. These are so eye catching you had better move the other furniture out of the room so friends don't trip!

Installed without any problem. Looks decent and runs quiet. The only thing I do not like is the fact that I have to use candelabra bulbs which are much more expensive than regular ones.

Attractive looking but not enough airflow

The product looks quite nice - modern but not too modern and the cherry blades look good in our home. Took more time to install (according to my husband) than the Westinghouse Comtempra Trio but the down rod adds a nice touch. Only issue is that the settings 2 and 3 don't move enough air and then the setting 1 is superfast. In other words the middle setting #2 is in sharp contrast to the fast setting #1 in that it is much more slower and the reduction in air movement/cooling is much lesser than what you expect with a middle setting. We're keeping it though b/c we're using it for the sunroom/playroom which is not always in use and if necessary we'll just crank it up to #1 for the boys. If it was installed in the family room or bedroom or another room that is occupied more, we would be returning it.

Quiet Fan

Installed without any problem. Looks decent and runs quiet. The only thing I do not like is the fact that I have to use candelabra bulbs which are much more expensive than regular ones.

This ceiling fan is of great quality, and it is quiet and efficient. It makes a big difference in circulating the air in the living room with 18' ceilings, bringing more warm air down to the lower level! Love i!

Attractive looking but not enough airflow

The product looks quite nice - modern but not too modern and the cherry blades look good in our home. Took more time to install (according to my husband) than the Westinghouse Comtempra Trio but the down rod adds a nice touch. Only issue is that the settings 2 and 3 don't move enough air and then the setting 1 is superfast. In other words the middle setting #2 is in sharp contrast to the fast setting #1 in that it is much more slower and the reduction in air movement/cooling is much lesser than what you expect with a middle setting. We're keeping it though b/c we're using it for the sunroom/playroom which is not always in use and if necessary we'll just crank it up to #1 for the boys. If it was installed in the family room or bedroom or another room that is occupied more, we would be returning it.
