The style of this fan would be equally at home in a more modern home as it was in our 1927 craftsman bungalow kitchen. The pitch of the blades does a great job circulating air without generating an excessive amount of wind, although be sure to measure the blade length to make sure they don't hit your cabinet doors when open!DIY-ers beware: The only drawback to this fan is the wiring connection inside the optional light fixture isn't very well designed. The neutral wire is tucked safely behind the bulb socket and away from the incredibly hot halogen bulb. The hot wire, however, hangs close enough to the bulb to melt through the insulation and sever the connection. I wound up having to repair my wire twice, finally resorting to wire-tying it to the neutral, which still remained safely tucked behind the hot part.Wiring issues aside, we are planning to purchase another of these fans for our new house when we move next month.

My wife and I were quite excited when we found this fan on Amazon. It was identical to a fan we had seen at Restoration Hardware, but for about $200+ less. My impression was that RH simply bought the fan in bulk from the manufacturer and then re-packaged it under their own name.Anyway, when you buy something like this over the Web, you have to wonder whether it will disappoint when you get the package. Well, I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. The fan is solid and well-made and spins in 3 speeds quietly and very smoothly. We did not have to add any of the tiny fanblade weights that came with it.The wall switch is slick and modern-looking-- it lets you select the speed, plus have the fan operate in reverse (in winter, you don't want air whooshing down on you, so by pushing the air toward the ceiling, you displace the warm air collecting up there and gently force that warm air downward without creating a cooling breeze).This particular design looks very cool and retro. We looked at photos of probably 300 fans and this was our favorite. We've gotten many compliments.The fan was simple to install. We opted to cover the light with the included metal disk, since fan lights create unattractive lighting. I suggest putting up some track lights and bouncing the spots off the walls to give a pleasant ambiance to the room.

This fan is in my home office and was here when I bought the home 5 years ago. We have to keep it on low at most as it moves the air so well. I'm saving to buy a Minka outdoor fan and another like this one for my bedroom, as the fans I have on the deck and in my bedroom are completely inferior to this one. Please note that the person who gave it a 1 rating is posted 2ce, which brings the "average customer review" rating down, and that their complaint is not with the functionality of this fan. My daughter, who works with me, ordered one for a large den in their new home... same thing. She has to keep it on low, as it cools the room so remarkably. It's a must-have if your summers are scorching like they are here in Dallas. It's mid-June and the temperatures are unrelentingly in the 90s and even low 100s already. If you don't like the style and are looking at other fans, check the blade pitch on the fan you like. According to our local dealer, that's what makes all the difference in a fan's effectiveness.
