When I renovated, I put in central a/c but both my contractor and my lighting guy insisted I install fans as well, for the energy savings. So I put in the electrical connections in the bedrooms but could not find a fan I liked. They all looked so pedestrian. Two years later I found the Marea, and I absolutely loved its sleek, sculptural look. But then I read the specs and saw that on high this fan has the rpm's that most fans have on low. It was a lot of money to spend on a pretty but weak fan. On the other hand, I hate the feeling of wind blowing directly on my face when I sleep, so I decided to take a chance on the Marea.When we first turned it on, we couldn't believe how weak it was. Even on high, you can stand right under it and not even feel that is on. You don't hear it and you don't feel it. But I turned it on that night and it was fabulous. It is gentle and quiet, but circulates the air, so you feel cooled without feeling blown on. When it is really hot out, I use it with the a/c, but as the summer ended I was able to use the fan alone and I love it day and night. It doesn't feel like the blast of a fan, but more like the indirect cooling of an a/c vent.So if you are cooling a large room or your room needs a lot of cooling and you want the feel of a fan blowing strongly on you, this is not the fan for you. But if you like being cooled gently, this is the perfect fan.
