With the plastic twist connectors & receiver, there's very little room at the mounting plate. Had to tuck the twist connectors into pockets above & below the receiver; still a bear to mount. Couple o'days of frustration. I succeed at last.Moves air: Not at all as well as the funky 70's Casablanca it replaced. I give it a B-Lamp: Way too dim. Lights a 10' x 10' room, but only to turn on the other lamps in the room. Somewhat dissatisfying. Warm frosted glass successfully warms & hides florescent lamp. Grade: CStyle: Excellent looks. Grade: A I didn't mind, but the lamp glass might protrude a bit more than some prefer.Remote: A- / B+Noise: Suitably quiet - Grade: AA great looking modern fan with fair to good operation. Bit of a stretch @ $400, but Fanimation is one of the few with this level of style. Bought a second on the strength of its good looks and acceptable operation. If I had to use the light, would not buy. I don't use the light at all. May buy a 3rd for consistency, bedrooms.

I hope someone from Fanimation will read this and take note. You have to wire the receiver into the housing but the instructions are vague as to what to do with the receiver after that..how are you supposed to mount it to the motor housing? no screws, no brackets, no velcro. I struggled to make room so the motor housing would dock to the ceiling bracket (wires or the receiver kept getting in the way, I was also concerned about pinching wires). This is a pain to do when you have to keep taking the motor housing on and off. Come on engineers! have you heard of Design for Assembly (DFA)? How about ergonomics? The Minka aire F518-BN I just installed took me 10 seconds to attach the housing.

This is a beautiful looking fan and simple in its design statement. The number of parts that go into the installation of the fan are few. There are no additional brackets to hold the blades to the motor housing either. The CFL bulb that comes with the fan is more than adequate for my kids to do little reading before they fall asleep in their bedroom. The remote that comes with the fan, controls the light and the fans and very functional. There is no dimming capability on the lights unlike the Minka fan purchased around the sametime that I installed in the loft room. Minka Ceiling FanHighly recommend the fan for looks as well as for general lighting for reading. For reference The kids bedroom dimensions are 12'X12'
