1beautiful but noisy
By Gayle Durham
I would love nothing more than to have a wonderful minka aire, zen style fan whirling above my bed. But it is so noisy I can't sleep at night. minka has sent me 2 replacements and they are all noisy. I had a licensed electrician install the first one, he said the noise was caused by ball bearing in motor not packed in grease. The retail store says the noise is caused by the absence of an on/off hard wired switch; instead I only use the remote to turn it on/off.Also the retail store said the noise is caused by unbalanced fan, but the noise exists even when I remove all the blades.I have a 15 second video of the noisy fan if anyone would like to see it. Does anyone have a suggetion because I am out of ideas (contact gayle@cfsystems.com). I already paid electrician $300 for installation and I dont want to pay more for a hard wire switch only to find out that is not the problem.

5An excellent choice for the money: well designed and powerful
By Reading Mother
I did a lot of research into ceiling fans before deciding to buy two Minka Aire Zen ceiling fans to replace 2 outdated, barely adequate fans. Ceiling fans have com a long way as far as looks and functionality. I am very impressed with the mechanics of this fan. One, it is a clean design, I love the four blades and design simplicity, and two, these babies move air. It is like twice the power of the fans that we replaced, which, by the way, cost at least as much ten years ago. I do NOT notice them being "noisy" in the least. I am very sensitive to noise, as I have tinnitis, so no problem there in the least. If anything I am impressed with how quiet they are. What impresses me the most, however, is the amount of air movement. It feels so good to sit in our family room with the ceiling fan on. I will probably stick to the Minka brand from now on, and at $250 a piece for the Zen, it was not prohibitively expensive. In addition, we live in a 1970's house, which we love, but let's face it, a more expensive and stylized design would look out of place hanging from our popcorn ceilings. So, to sum it up, these are excellent fans, a good buy, and they work very well. We have them for 3 months now, and I look forward to years of enjoyment.Zen White Ceiling Fan Minka-Aire (MA-F514-WH)

5Stylish and Silent!
By BradB
We recently installed this unit (very easy instructions to follow) and are amazed at how quiet and powerful it is! Minka is famous for their "out-of-the-box" design thinking-- we have a Minka "Jetson-like" futuristic fan in our casual downstairs area and love it. The blades on the "Zen" fit at an angle right into the motor housing--actually provides more air movement with less noise-- and is great-looking at the same time. Couldn't be happier.
