This innovative design features matte opal glass and polycarbonate blades which rotate up when in use. The 44" Airlift ceiling fan from Monte Carlo has a brushed steel finish and clear frost blades. This fan features 44 inch blade span; 22 degree blade pitch; and 188 x 15mm motor finish. A lifetime motor warranty is included. INTRODUCTION:We got this Monte Carlo Airlift fan to replace a builder installed fan that we hated. The old fan was installed in our formal living room and never looked like it belonged there. The style was all wrong--- with huge 54" blades that made the room look smaller --- and the fan lights were exposed and hurt our eyes --- so we rarely turned the lights on.PROS:When we replaced the old fan with the Monte Carlo Airlift, it was very exciting. Suddenly we had a beautiful hanging lamp that fit the style of the formal living room perfectly. You should see the delight and surprise of our guests when they see the beautiful lamp magically transform into a completely silent ceiling fan whenever a ceiling fan is needed. You can reverse the direction of the blades "on the fly" using the included remote control - and when you do - you are entertained with the translucent blades closing and then reopening like a blossoming flower. Very high quality motor and bearings. Completely silent. Overall construction is high quality. The dome lights are four ordinary easy-to-find 15w candelabra or appliance bulbs. All batteries and bulbs are included with initial package.CONS:More difficult to install than an ordinary ceiling fan and the instructions are not completely clear. If you are replacing an existing ceiling fan, your existing fan wall switches may have to be removed - since this fan uses only a remote transmitter powered by an included 23 amp 12v battery you won't be able to find in your local convenience store. Uses a hard-to-find 120v 100w tiny halogen specialty lamp that needs to be installed with extreme care since any oil on your hands could make it explode. Parts list doesn't include the specs for remote battery type so you may have to take one with you to find it at your local home improvement store.CONCLUSION:If you like the style and if you want something beautiful, entertaining and different then look no further --- this one is a masterpiece. We ordered extra speciality halogen lamps on Amazon so we have them on hand since we love using the downlight.

Using this fan for few months now - works great and a conversation starter. Kids were excited to see it open and close the blades. Nice design and engineering. Lot of my guests didn't even notice it was a fan. This has 3 speeds and the higher setting could blow any papers or bills away and we mostly use it in the medium setting. Picture here shows it in pinkish or purplish tinge but ours is all white the way I like it.

If your doubt about this fan's capability of moving the air is holding you back from making the purchase. Do not be afraid - It moves the air - It is smaller yet seems to be more efficient than the 52inch we replaced. We installed this in our breakfast room - nothing but "awesome" comments including the electrician and general contractor. If the style appeals to you- you will not be disappointed.
